News

Recent Auctions continue to see amazing results for quality items. Record prices have been achieved for their grades in many areas, including 1930 pennies and 1923 halfpennies which produced extremely strong results. A recent auction of ours saw a record price obtained for the historical TAA Robbery Specimen note set. Quality banknotes continue to rise with many collectors buying these for their own Superannuation funds. £100, £20, and early £10 are in demand as well as choice condition early decimal notes. Recent auctions saw an amazing Hoard of Collins/Allen and Cerutty /Collins very early Banknotes, rarely seen in such condition as these notes were, for some time. Also £100 note and some amazing pairs and runs from George V to QEII. Results of this 1.2 Million dollar Auction saw many record prices. Error and misprint notes are proving very strong as are any Quality Banknotes which are eagerly sought after by investors and collectors alike. Recently we auctioned a Rare Set of Gilbert & Ellice Islands Banknotes. This was the first time in the world that a set of these notes had been auctioned. In the Pick World Banknote Catalogue they mention that they have been reported seen but not confirmed. These notes were issued during WWII as an emergency issue note during the Japanese occupancy of the Islands. These notes came from a family who lived on the Island during this time. The Islands are now called Tuvalu and Kiribati. They now use Australian currency. These would be notes missing from all services, British & Commonwealth and world note collections.

At one of our recent auctions we saw Type 3 Specimen Set sold for $125,000 plus buyers premium.
